Ryan Arcidiacono came off a ball screen, and took advantage of a mismatch, taking Kadeem Batts to the rack for the layup and the foul. That 3-point play turned out to be the deciding factor in an exciting overtime finish for No. 9 Villanova. The Friars had one more chance to extend the game, but LaDontae Henton, who sent the game to overtime with a last-second three in regulation, front-rimmed his open 3-point attempt.
For Villanova, its a bounce-back win after its second blowout loss to Creighton. For Providence, a team on the bubble, its a marquee win its resume needed. The Friars have a meeting with No. 11 Creighton on Mar. 8 but that is in Omaha.
